The 2006 Nissan Titan is a world-class truck. This full size pickup is at the top of its class with 379 lb-ft of torque. I had an opportunity to test drive and look at the Titans when looking to purchase a full size truck. I looked at the Tundra, too. The Toyota is no slacker by any means, but this Titan is sharp.

Lets just start with the big silver 5.6 numbers you see on the back of the truck. That means it has the 305 hp V8 engine strong enough to tow 9500 lbs. It does have a fully boxed frame, so give up on those Ford commercials. Notice they only compare the Ford to the Dodge and Chevrolet pickups? Wonder why? No, I dont.

Closest comparison I can find to the Titans power is the F150 with the larger 5.4-liter engine. It has 300 hp and can tow as much as the Titan. But the tow package on the Titan comes with a lower final gear ratio to act more like a 4 speed automatic instead of a 5 speed. It also has a transmission temperature gauge and trailer brake controller prewired under the dash.

Now if you are more the off-roading type, youll like the electronic locking rear differential and the Rancho off-road shocks. It also has fog lights and skid plates which are a must have.

The Titan boasts most modern conveniences as the Tundra like braking distribution and shifting on the fly 4wd.

In my inspection of the 2005 and 2006 models, I did notice a neat feature. The tailgate weighs a ton, but on the 2006 model, it appears weightless. Nissan added gas shocks to aid in lowering and raising the tailgate. Pretty slick. The other really neat feature I found in this truck was the locking outside toolbox. Its a lockbox under the left rear tire, up under the fender. Theres a door and a locking latch to store other things, like tools and such. Its pretty cool. That has me on a bias towards the Nissan as if the other features didnt.

In the bed is a factory sprayed on bed liner and this neat utility track to hold stuff in place. Rather, it allows me to position ropes and tie downs where I need them. But inside, the interior has something to be desired. Looks like a 350Z nightmare. The steering wheel and gauge cluster is nice, but move over to the right of that and, I dunno, just not my taste.

There are 3 trim levels, XE, SE, and LE. The SE seems to be the most common and its nice. Not much difference as I can tell between an SE and LE. It is a nice truck and should be considered if you are shopping around as I am and have been.

There are many different styles and brands of tonneau covers that you can purchase for your truck. Many times you will have the option of what you want and what you can afford for your vehicle. It will depend on the make and model of your truck and what the options available are for that particular model. You will have a great time figuring out what you want to have for your truck.

There are hard material tonneau covers that you can get. These are made of hard plastic and are very tough and durable. You can get a lot of years from one of these covers. They are made to keep the items that you have hidden underneath it protected. You can usually find these covers to come with a lock. This will make things even safer and secure when you cannot be in sight of your truck at all times.

The hard tonneau covers are nice, but they can be costly. If you are looking for something a little less expensive but still a good quality item, you may decide to have a vinyl cover. These are very good for all different reasons. The first being is that they serve their intended purpose and they are more affordable than the other style. You cannot lock this type, but you can still keep things protected underneath the cover. You will not have to worry about hauling things in the rain because the cover will keep the items underneath safe and sound.

A vinyl tonneau cover will need to be maintained more than that of plastic. When you have a vinyl cover, you will have to use a conditioner on it every so often to make sure that you are keeping the vinyl soft. This is so that when you stretch the vinyl cover across the bed of the truck to close, it will do so nicely. You do not want to have to worry about the cover ripping or tearing when you are trying to get it closed.

Some of the tonneau covers will close by snaps; Velcro and some even have a track that it slides into. All of the above ways are very useful and can be done easily with little effort. You will not have to worry about the cover coming undone when you are driving down the road. You can have confidence in knowing that your cover will be secure and stay in place.

When you have a vinyl tonneau cover, you should be careful that you do not have anything that will puncture the cover underneath it. If the vinyl is not taken care of, you may end up with a hole in the cover and you will find yourself trying to replace or fix the cover.

When marketing to companies with fleets of vehicles for lube and oil change services you need to consider many factors. When selling to human resource directors of large corporations to have permission to change oil in the employees cars on the property this is a little more difficult. Doing business with businesses makes a lot of sense really for a mobile oil change and lube company and this discussion recently came up with a couple of entrepreneurs in the sector. One gentleman stated;

But not every business has a fleet of vehicles. And I position my service to be a benefit not only to the employee, but also the employer. The employer benefits because the employees perceive that the employer has brought me in and negotiated a discount on their behalf.

Indeed excellent point and when selling to corporations you also need to push the concept of convenience, amenities, benefit to working there. This will please the human resource director, which seem to always be interested in having happy campers as employees.

The key for me has been to build relationships with the HR professionals within the companies.

Building relationships may take too long, but I agree it is the key to a successful business long-run and you should be keeping lists and hang out at Starbucks and pay attention and go get the Houston Book of Lists too. Yes all that, but position your company as a Community Player and great company and then they come to you. Meanwhile hit them with your Blitz Marketing type campaigns;

http://ezinearticles.com/?Rethinking-The-Oil-Change-Business-Venture&id=25279

If you will concentrate on your fleet business and your on-site corporate business in a sort of 80/20 market mix split then you will always have cross-referrals and be able to continue to grow your business. I sincerely hope you will consider all this in 2006.
